Kitten eye infection treatment? ?

My 2 1/2 kitten has an infection in one eye, it is swollen shut, the skin around it reddish, and has green goop around it. It's obvious it's an infection, but it's 8:20 PM where I am and the vets are all closed, I'll take him in first thing in the morning, but for now what can I do? I know I can wipe it gently with a warm, damp cloth and I will. I do not have a pet store like petco in my town just a walmart, is there an ointment I can purchase from there that will suffice for the time being? Like neosporin? Or will that hurt them?
