Rescued litter of kittens all with eye problems?

I have just found a litter of abandoned kittens under a vacant trailer. The area where they were living was not suitable for growing kittens so I have taken them, trying my best to clean them up and find them homes. I am living with another family, and cannot keep them. The kittens all have TERRIBLE looking eyes. I'm not sure if this is normal, or if it's actually that bad. I have taken warm wash cloths and gotten the sticky pus like goop off and when they go to sleep they wake up with their eyes stuck shut. Is this normal? I cannot afford to take them all to the vet, is there anything I can use to help this? Also, as cats are so overpopulated im having trouble giving them away. There is a local human society, is that a good choice to take them too? I have heard that they put alot of kittens to sleep, especially ones who are really young. Any advice will help!
