Media center delay for capture card?

i have a windows vista sp2 64-bit and i have a Hauppauge win tv 1800 capture card that came with it. I'm connect my xbox to it but when i use media center to play it i get a delay which is hard to play with is there another program i can use but the wintv program because i don't have the cd to install it. I tried VLC player but my capture card is not a audio device option so i don't have any audio can anyone please help me?
